Policy Overview
Readable • Detailed • PracticalData minimization
We only collect what’s needed to deliver translations, keep the app stable, and improve compatibility.
Translation content
Your text/voice may be processed to provide translations. By default, we don’t store it unless you choose to save history.
No selling personal data
We do not sell your personal information. Period.
1) Scope & Consent
This Policy applies to Translator and any features we provide through the app. By downloading or using the Services, you acknowledge you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
Our app may contain links to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
2) What We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information depending on how you use the app:
A) Translation Inputs (Content You Provide)
When you use translation features, we may process:
- Text you type or paste (phrases, sentences, document snippets, etc.).
- Voice input if you use speech-to-text (microphone permission required).
- Images if you use camera/scan translation (OCR) (camera permission required).
Important: This content is used to perform the requested translation. By default, we do not use it to identify you. If you enable optional features like Saved History or Favorites, the content you choose to save will be stored on your device (and/or in the cloud if you enable cloud sync—if applicable).
B) Usage & Diagnostics (Non-Content Data)
- Crash reports and error logs (to fix bugs and improve stability).
- Performance metrics (e.g., app start time, feature responsiveness).
- Basic usage events (e.g., which screens/features are used) in aggregated form.
These diagnostics help us keep the app reliable and compatible across devices. We aim to keep this data non-identifying.
C) Device & Technical Information
- Device model and manufacturer (e.g., Samsung, Xiaomi).
- Operating system version (e.g., Android version).
- App version and language settings.
- Approximate region (country-level) inferred from IP for localization and service performance (if online features are used).
D) Advertising Identifiers (Only If You Show Ads)
If the app is ad-supported, we (or our ad partners) may use the Google Advertising ID (GAID) (or similar platform identifiers) to deliver and measure advertisements. Where possible, we aim to serve non-personalized ads and follow platform policies.
You can typically reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings.
3) How We Use Information
- Provide translations (text, voice, camera/OCR, conversation mode—depending on features you use).
- Improve accuracy and performance (e.g., optimize UI/UX, fix bugs, reduce crashes).
- Security and abuse prevention (e.g., detect malicious usage patterns at a service level).
- Show ads (only if your version of the app includes advertising) and measure basic performance of ads.
- Customer support (if you contact us directly, we’ll use the info you provide to respond).
4) Translation Processing (What Happens to Your Text/Voice)
Translation requires processing your input. Depending on your settings and features, processing may happen:
- On-device (offline translation models, if available).
- On servers (online translation for higher accuracy or broader language support).
When server-based translation is used, your content is transmitted securely to perform the requested translation. We do not intend to use translation content to identify you.
5) App Permissions
Translator may request permissions only when needed for specific features:
- Microphone — voice input / speech-to-text.
- Camera — image translation / scanning (OCR).
- Storage/Photos — import images or documents for translation (optional).
- Clipboard — quick paste/translate (if enabled).
- Network access — online translation and updates.
You can usually manage permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work without required permissions.
6) Third-Party Services
We may use trusted third-party providers for analytics, crash reporting, ads, or translation infrastructure. These providers may process limited data on our behalf and are expected to follow confidentiality and security obligations.
- Analytics tools (to understand app performance and improve features).
- Crash reporting (to fix bugs and improve stability).
- Ad networks (if you show ads).
- Cloud translation infrastructure (if you use online translation).
We do not authorize third parties to track your browsing activity outside the app via our Services.
7) Data Security
We use reasonable, industry-standard safeguards to protect information, such as:
- Encryption in transit for communications with our servers (where applicable).
- Access controls limiting who can access operational systems and diagnostics.
- Ongoing reviews to address vulnerabilities and improve protections.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect data using best practices.
8) Data Retention & Deletion
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy:
- Translation content: processed transiently for translation. Not stored by default unless you enable a save/history feature.
- Diagnostics: retained for a limited period to troubleshoot and improve performance, then deleted or anonymized.
- Support messages: retained to resolve your request and for record-keeping as required by law.
If the app includes Saved History, you can delete saved translations in-app (if available). You can also uninstall the app to remove locally stored data on your device.
9) Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10) International Transfers
If you use online translation, your data may be processed on servers located in different countries. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are used where required by applicable law.
11) Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in features, legal requirements, or operational practices. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the updated Policy.
